CustomLinc: Passenger Logistics, Making a difference in Tourism Operations

Darrell Campbell,Managing Director, customlincDarrell Campbell, Managing Director

Tourism organizations face a lot of challenges when it comes to management of people. It is a complex space with many businesses still having manual processes to deal with large parts of their business that could be automated. Without automation, managing the movement of people becomes difficult and is more prone to mistakes. Taking care of all the aspects of tourism operations from ticketing to passenger logistics, CustomLinc deals with the tasks involved in planning and managing tourism-related activities within a single platform for tourism operators.

CustomLinc provide enterprise class, reservation systems designed to handle high-volume ticketing and logistics operations.

High-volume ticketing operations call for fast and reliable presentation of tickets for complex products with multiple entitlements. CustomLinc manages this through a simple POS touch screen interface for frontline staff driven by rules to manage a booking throughout its lifecycle. “Ticketing of complex products must be fast and intelligent to increase throughput, minimize wait times, improve customer satisfaction and eliminate bottlenecks or overbooking scenarios,” says Darrell Campbell, Managing Director at CustomLinc.

The management of resources, be it seats on a coach, rooms at a venue, beds on an overnight vessel, deck space on a vehicle ferry or staff available for escorted activities are all relevant at the time if booking regardless of the sales channel.

With journey planning, the solution calculates multiple route options through multiple hubs and presents the most efficient way to travel from one point to another on a single multi-modal ticket.

Tourism is an exciting and demanding industry, with operations running 365 days a year

CustomLinc’s solution automatically calculates pick-up schedules, automates the sending of manifests and third party notifications at all stages of the journey.

“With automated logistics integrated directly into the operational platform, the business efficiency improves and gains the capability to handle growth in a more sustainable way,” elucidates Campbell.

Controlling the process from the beginning to the end in a unified operation that allows managers to view and monitor yield based on key parameters. “Managing the customer’s experience from the time they engage with your brand to the time they complete their journey is an important initiative for all leading operators in the industry,” mentions Campbell. Dynamic ticket pricing based on yield allows operators to optimize loadings and incentivize periods that otherwise may not have been profitable. From regulating the load when the business is at the peak to manage costs during the low season, CustomLinc controls all.

CustomLinc is continually evaluating and adopting new technologies especially in regards to payment technologies, channel integration partners and POS technology. The team works on 3-6 month planning cycle to be responsive to a continually changing business market. “Building enterprise class system is not just about the size and scalability but also about listening and responding to the needs of individual customers.” concludes Campbell.
