Demand for goods has already exceeded the ability of several companies to supply. More than half of retailers offer same-day delivery, but consumers also demand these items at the same rate.
Fremont, CA: Advances in trade have led to an increase in modern consumers' basic standards. The increase in next-and same-day delivery has generated a standard of demand that puts new pressure on companies. As a result of this rise in demand, the entire supply chain is increasingly changing from a functional orientation to a global and interconnected data and process network. There are many new and evolving ways in which companies are changing their supply chains to meet modern consumer demands. Cutting-edge technology such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and automation are incorporated through the digital supply network, which incorporates data and knowledge from various sources to drive the delivery of manufactured products throughout the value chain.
Delivery Automation

More than half of retailers offer same-day delivery, but consumers also demand these items at the same rate. One way forward-looking companies are adapting to meet customer needs and at the same time keeping operating costs low is to automate some of their last-mile distribution systems. With smaller, last-mile fulfilment centres being established no more than six or nine miles from major metropolitan areas, the work of transporting packages can be achieved by a mix of conventional shipping as well as autonomous vehicles and drones. With more small and specialized last-milefulfillment centers being developed for various goods and needs, the delivery methods of these products can be further diversified. At the end of the day, autonomous vehicles and drones will also help retailers significantly reduce the expense and responsibility of last mile distribution of infrastructure.
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology plays an important role in modern supply chain optimisation. For example, in warehousing products, AI and location intelligence may help retailers retain a competitive advantage in their product distribution and supply chain operations.Multi-faceted broad data from specific geographic locations combined with online interactions may display purchasing trends based on specific times, events and conditions in the detailed customer segments. A retailer may also use AI to predict which goods are more cost-effective to store in a particular warehouse on the basis of their proximity to certain areas.Demographic and other behavioral information at that place decides how and what will be stored, and this information may be modified based on behavioral changes or external factors. For example, if a heatwave is predicted in a particular region, retailers would need to store more air conditioners and this increase in supply is expected.
